Eating out

Typical dishes of the region around Gubbio include arrosto alla brace (barbecued meat), home made pasta, e.g. tagliatelle, and crescia (also torta al testo). The latter is unique to the region of Gubbio: it is similar to bread and is eaten hot together with ham, vegetables or cheese. Pizza is also very popular, as everywhere else in Italy.

Here are some suggestions for places where you can eat good local food.

·  La Cantina It serves both local food and pizza. It is situated on a parallel street to Corso Garibaldi, on its western side (close to Via della Repubblica).

·  L’ antico frantoio It serves both local food and pizza. It is situated in front of Teatro Romano. It can be easily reached from Via Cavour, through a passage.

·  Grotta dell’Angelo It serves local food. You can find its location on the maps of Gubbio we have provided.

·  Il turista. It serves mainly crescia. It can be reached only by car, by taking Via Perugina (the road you took when you came to Gubbio). After about 15 minutes you should see it on your left (pink house with a large car park).
